Good news—many insurance plans will still reimburse you for therapy, even if I’m not in-network.

Using Your Insurance for Therapy: Out-of-Network Benefits Made Simple

Did you know that you may be able to get money back on therapy sessions, even if I’m not in your insurance network? Many clients are surprised to learn that their insurance plan includes out-of-network (OON) benefits, which can significantly reduce their out-of-pocket costs while giving them access to the therapist that feels right for them.

What Are Out-of-Network Benefits?

Out-of-network benefits are part of many insurance plans that reimburse you for sessions with a licensed therapist who is not directly covered by your network. This means you can work with me privately and still get a portion of your session fee reimbursed by your insurance—often around 60% to 80%.

Why Use OON Benefits?

  • Choose the right therapist: Instead of settling for whoever is available in-network, you can choose a therapist who truly fits your needs.

  • Flexibility: You won’t be limited by provider networks, long waitlists, or one-size-fits-all care.

  • Affordability: Once you’ve met your deductible, your insurance may start reimbursing a large portion of each session—often leaving you responsible for just a fraction of the full cost.

How It Works

  1. Pay for your session at the full rate at the time of service.

  2. Receive a superbill from me (a document summarizing your sessions with the necessary codes and details).

  3. Submit the superbill to your insurance for reimbursement.

  4. Receive a check or direct deposit from your insurance provider—usually within a few weeks.

Many clients receive $100–$150 back per session depending on their plan.

Not Sure If You Have OON Benefits?

Most PPO plans include out-of-network coverage. HMO, Medicare, and Medicaid plans typically do not. If you’re not sure what your plan covers, I can help connect you with a trusted platform that checks your OON benefits quickly and for free. You’ll know exactly what to expect before we begin.

Want to Skip the Reimbursement Wait?

After your deductible is met, I can connect you with a platform that allows you to only pay your co-insurance (your share of the cost) at the time of each session. You won’t have to front the full fee and wait weeks for reimbursement—they’ll handle it for you.

Let's Make Therapy More Accessible
